PSP vs PS Vita?

The PSP (PlayStation Portable) and PS Vita are Sony's two handheld console generations. The PSP, released in 2004, uses a UMD/Memory Stick storage system with a 4.3" LCD screen and analog nub for movement. The Vita, released in 2011, upgraded to a 5" OLED (or LCD on later models) touchscreen, added a rear touchpad, dual analog sticks, and significantly stronger hardware for smoother performance and better graphics.

Vita 1000 vs Vita 2000 (Slim)

  • PS Vita 1000 — Original model, OLED screen (richer color, deeper blacks), slightly larger and heavier, shorter battery life (~3-5 hrs)
  • PS Vita 2000 (Slim) — LCD screen (still sharp, less vibrant than OLED), lighter and thinner body, notably better battery life (~4-6 hrs).

    Great console overall. I love being able to play in the car, and the battery lasts quite a while. Very good graphics. It came with all the games I was looking for: Mario Kart, GTA, Mortal Kombat, Assassins Creed. Definitely worth it! Also very glad I got a case — very handy.

    Got one for my husband, he loves it. I guess it has all the games he played growing up and can't find anymore. Was also perfect for when we went on vacation because he could still play on the plane. Would recommend.
